Simpler Recycling is a new initiative aimed at streamlining recycling processes. By March 2025, businesses with 10 or more employees must separate plastic, paper, card, glass, metals, and food waste from general waste. This regulation will affect all properties, non-household premises, and businesses in England. Who will be affected by Simpler Recycling?
Simpler Recycling will impact everyone in England, including households, non-household premises (such as hospitals and schools), and businesses, especially Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) and micro-firms. Businesses and non-household premises with 10 or more full-time equivalent employees must segregate and recycle all required materials to comply with the legislation.
By March 31, 2025, your business must separate the following materials into appropriate containers to facilitate the recycling of valuable resources:
- Plastic
- Glass
- Metal (cans, tins, and foil)
- Cartons & tetrapaks
- Paper and cardboard
- Food waste
- Garden
